New Walker Library

We’re thrilled to share some wonderful news about the expansion of the City of Walker’s campus library! This exciting step has been in the works for decades, thanks to the collaborative vision of the Kent District Library and City of Walker. Since opening its doors in 1990, the current Walker Library, which is 8,000 square feet, has been a cherished resource for our community. However, as our City grows, it’s clear that we need a bigger space to serve everyone’s needs.

The new library will expand to more than 20,000 sq ft. and be built on the Walker City Hall campus. The library will feature a hallway filled with Walker history, an outdoor plaza, a second-floor deck and patio, an E-games room, a podcast station, a children’s section, and numerous study rooms and specialized book collections. There will even be funding and naming opportunities, which will be announced in the coming months. The total project cost is between $20 and $25 million.
