Cross Ice Hockey

Our Cross Ice Program is managed by our Ice DIrector, retired professional hockey player Mike Fountain. Mike played in the NHL with the Vacouver Caucks, the Carolina Hurricanes and the Ottawa Senators.  He's represented his country numerous times and locally, played with the Grand Rapids Griffins for two seasons.  As well as working as the Ice Director here at the Walker Ice and Fitness Center, Mike also serves as the Hockey Director for the HAWK Youth Hockey Association. Feel free to contact Coach Mike with any questions: he can be reached at (616) 735 6286 ext. 6112 or via email: mfountain@walkericeandfitness.com.

Cross Ice at WIFC is a city run program that serves as a next step for anyone interested in continuing to learn the basics of hockey after Learn to Play.  Participants concentrate on the fundamentals of the game with a strong emphasis on skill-based practices.  After the first month of practices on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, we start plauing Cross Ice games during the Saturday practices.  Players will be split into equal teams and given jerseys.
